BYU is defending Mountain West Champions, and a big favorite to repeat, they lost Hansen to the draft, I thought he was a little overrated, BYU is not the same team away from the Marriott center, they have there other 4 starters back, they have some 25 yr old forwards coming in this year that were on missions, Austin Ainge son of Danny is a 2nd yr freshman who has some talent, Im not a big fan of Coach Clevland.

Cal is loaded with talented freshman, and our ranked 19 in the country, they lost there opener at home to a very underrated Cal Poly team at the buzzer as a 13 point favorite, Shipp and Weathers who were physical rebounders are gone, Ubayka is a great guard but only a freshman, Tamir 6 11 center from Israel is a good post player and shot blocker.

My first thought was to play Cal, becasue of there talent and 1.5 at home sounds easy, but Byus best players are 25 and Cals best players are 18, Byus kids have been playing together longer than Cals kids.

Im not sure how good Ainge is, also Cal wont want to start 0-2 at home, and may get some calls from the refs like Pepperdine did. I was going to fire on Cal, then I was going to fire on BYU, but I think I will just hold off for now.

Tough game. You would think Cal will be focused after their shocking loss to Cal-Poly.Cal has 2 freshman playing prominent roles-6-8 F Leon Powe and PG Ayinde Ubaka are playing significant minutes.Tamir is a big forward with 3 point range and good passing skills, but he is not very physical. All in all,the Bears usually play good defense and have a lot of talent. The key is how consistent the freshmen perform.

BYU is picked by some to win the Mountain West.Center Rafael Araujo averaged about 12 and 9 last year so he will be tough to deal with on the inside. The Cougars have 2 other guys that play physical, but Jake Schoff will not play and Jared Jensen is probable after leaving last game with an injury. As usual BYU has several players that like to bomb away from the outside.Freshman Michael Rose had 8 treys against Southern Utah.Pg Kevin Woodberry is much improved this year. One edge that BYU enjoys-they played a 2 week exhibition tour in Australia in August which will help them early in the season.

I hate to provide information and waffle, but I will probably stay away from this game.If BYU was healthy and at home,I would be all over the Cougars. The one thing that point me to the Bears is their recent loss to Cal-Poly.Braun will have them ready for this game.

Good luck Dante and congratulations on your Butler win.

The BYU-Cal Game Will Be very Close In My Opinion Coming down to The Wire, I think Their is alot of Easier Games. For Example What was Said earlier in this Thread you have a Very Under-Rated Cal-Poly Team Catching 2 Points Against a Decent Colorado Team That is 2-0. In My Opinion I think Cal-Poly Will Win by Atleast 8 Points and That is the Bet to Go With Here.Just to Offer a Opinion I would Lean Towards BYU+1.5. Good Luck

I like it - Maybe its superficial but I can't see them starting off 0-2 either.
